Saturday

Good Saturday morning!  There was no sleeping in today as Dad has a full day of work ahead of him and so far my most important mission is taking good care of him!  First of all that involves a good breakfast!  Today breakfast was cereal, juice and fruit, but most days it includes the most delicious homemade English muffins I have ever had. A young woman came to the door the first day we were here and was selling them.  Obviously it is a vestige of the English influence still felt in most areas of life here (including the beautiful language!).

Dad is really working hard which is why we are here, but also tiring for him. Today among other things, he is operating on a woman with an abdominal pregnancy a very rare, but interesting complication. He is also delivering an Ethiopian woman who has severe preeclampsia and a growth retarded baby. She is very anxious as this is her first baby and obviously she is concerned for its health as well as her own. Pray that all goes well for both of these precious patients.

I, on the other hand have a free day which I am looking to fill!  I am doing a lot of reading which is fun. I am enjoying a new book called The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson.  I would recommend it.

We loved Skyping with Bill and Preston last night. We are still working on getting a better connection, but it was wonderful to see their faces and to hear Preston say, Hi Poppy!  Technology is daunting to me, but it sure is wonderful to see your children and grandchildren a half a world away!

love to you all and have a relaxing weekend!
